Author: Diane Domina, Senior Content Production Editor
A review of a study in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports. Study was in Japan, elderly women, and evaluated for efficacy in reducing likelihood of developing disabilities. Please note dance combines artistic expression and exercise, both requiring use of important skills.
“No other type of exercise was specifically linked to a lower disability risk. According to the researchers, this may be because dance requires balance, strength, and endurance, as well as cognitive abilities like adaptability, concentration, artistry, and memory for choreography.”
